Testimonials

Below are testimonials from previous class participants:

Jane Doe No More founder Donna Palomba at an Escape Alive class."Nothing is more precious in this world -- than the life of our loved ones, especially our children.  Do something for your children and take the Escape Alive class so that YOU CAN protect yourself. The harsh reality is that an attack CAN happen to anyone and each of us must be responsible to prepare ourselves.  I did it for my children so that I can be here -- for them!"

---Nora Mason, Executive Director, Jane Doe No More, Inc.

"This class not only taught me many great ways to escape from a dangerous situation, but also how to avoid those situations all together by being aware of my surroundings.  I have also brought my 18 year old daughter with me to a couple classes. She is a college student in RI and sometimes has to walk through campus alone. I worry just a little bit less knowing that she has some really great self defense tools to carry with her everywhere she goes."

---Sandy Kearney, Multiple Escape Alive participant, CT

Here comes a knee...JDNM/Escape Alive."I attended the Escape Alive/Jane Doe No More session in Thomaston. I think it was excellent. I have urged all of my female friends and family to take at least one of these courses a year. I intend to make it at least an annual class for myself. It is very helpful to be able to try out the techniques that were shown in the class. I feel that if needed I will be better prepared to protect myself.

The class was well run. The women that shared their stories made the class all that more realistic, and although they were both victims of horrible crimes, they both proved that they are empowered and are not being victimized any more. I especially wanted to say thank you to them.

Please keep me posted as to new class dates."

Escape Alive and Jane Doe No More, helping to teach women how to defend themselves."I attended an (Escape Alive) class several months ago.  It was the first class of this kind that I had ever attended, and I was so very impressed with the entire experience!

The class started out with one of the instructors going over tips on how we can be better aware of our surroundings.  He provided us with exact, specific scenarios that we should all be considering each time we are out and about in life.  We all "think" we know this stuff, but guess what?  The examples and specifics that he gave to us put a whole new level of perception for me about my personal safety.  Sadly, we really can never say, "Nothing will never happen to me".

Before the class, I would "kind of" think about where I was parking, who is around me, and where I was…what kind of people are close by.  What I also tended to think was that "nothing" will really ever happen to me, so I was living life with my guard only 20 to 25 percent turned on.

The truth is, people are around that may be specifically looking to take something from you.  This starting point of the class taught me so much, most importantly to TRUST my INSTINCTS!

Learn to fight back with Escape Alive! The class does get physical.  It is a great workout, your heart and breathing go up, but you are not forced to go beyond what you are comfortable with.  The moves taught in this class for self defense are ones that anyone in normal health can handle.  These techniques are also something that we should all practice regularly. If you don’t practice, the speed and power felt from moves done during the class will be dulled considerably as time goes on.

I am very excited to have experienced this program and am looking forward to taking the class again and again.  I think twice a year will work for me, keeping me in tune with the World around me and feeling powerful enough to avoid or escape from a threat that may come along."

---Michelle Callahan, Escape Alive participant, CT

"This class is amazing. I cant wait to start coming to classes once a week. You guys really made me see that its a serious thing to know how to defend your self and you never know how strong that person maybe so to keep practicing and attending classes is (definitely) in my future!"

---Morgan James, Escape Alive participant, CT

Daniele Serrano, Ted Grieder, Teresa LaBarbera, and Tracy DiGiovancarlo- Escape Alive"I just wanted to tell you that I thought the Escape Alive course was incredible. I can't stop talking about it. I will make everyone I know take a course soon or later. My friend Lyn and her daughter Krista loved it too."

---Carol Wilton, Escape Alive participant, JDNM Administrative Coordinator, CT

"As a practicing martial artist I make an effort to attend self defense classes as often as possible and the Escape Alive was one of the most professional, realistic and helpful self defense seminars I have ever attended. I would highly ...recommend the class to all women, regardless of their backgrounds, ages or skill sets. You will walk away with a new awareness as well as a new set of skills that could save your life. If Escape Alive comes to your area attend it! You will not be disappointed…and ultimately it could save your life."

"I feel a lot safer and more confident in my ability to protect myself because I took your seminars in April. It just goes to show that no matter what someone's size and build, protecting yourself and staying safe is completely possible."

"Learned a lot today at class. Both my girls said that they thought they could protect themselves before the class. After taking the class they said they wouldn't have been able to protect themselves before this class. What they thought they should do before was not the best option. Now at least they have some tools to protect themselves. Looking forward to more classes. Thank you again for all you do it was an eye opener to me. Going to tell my friend to take the class."

--Christi Pace Burkman, Escape Alive participant, CT

"Great session yesterday, Drew and Daniele! But I'm not sure I'll stop being sore before I take another session in the Spring! LOL."

--Amber Dunphy, Escape Alive participant, CT

"My daughter Laura and I took the class on Sunday (3/11/2012) and we (were) very, very impressed and thoroughly enjoyed it. All the instructors were fantastic, well-trained and exhibited so much patience. They truly made this experience a very positive one. Hopefully, we will never be in a position to apply what we did learn today but I feel very confident with what I learned at this class. I have highly recommended it to my family and friends. Once again, thank you so much."

"I attended this class yesterday in Naugatuck, CT (4/11/2012). The East Coast Training Systems team was professional, informative, and made sure everyone got a chance to be hands on. To the women from Jane Doe No More who shared their stories... THANK YOU. I plan on taking my girls to a class, this is need to know information!."

--Rhonda Hoxie Lord, Escape Alive participant, CT

"This afternoon (4/1/2012) I participated in the Escape Alive class at the Waterbury Y with a bunch of my girlfriends- it was most definitely one of the best things that I could've done for myself, and to have my friends with me made me feel secure that we're all doing something to protect ourselves & others in our lives. I learned a lot about what to do in every day situations (like not paying attention to my cell phone 24/7 & actually observing my surroundings) and I also learned a lot about defending myself that I wouldn't have known without taking the class. The instructors were helpful, friendly and super informative throughout the entire class - and the end demonstration was the best - very life like & interesting to learn what you'd actually do in an "attack" situation - great class - highly recommend to anyone and EVERYONE! Thanks for the great afternoon :)."

--Heidi Gaber, Escape Alive participant, CT

"The women who shared their stories were amazing and inspiring! And their stories prove it could happen to anyone - all women need to take this class!"

--Heather Anderson, Escape Alive participant, CT

"What a powerful session on Sunday (5/6/2012) in Darien with 85 Broads! Thank you to you and all the other instructors for the instruction as well as for the practical experience... What a gift!"

--Cindy Cornell, Escape Alive participant, CT

"My daughter and I attended this past Saturday April 28th. We both really enjoyed it. Better than I (we) had expected! The speakers and instructors were Excellent! All the different scenarios and what to do situations…. Survivors shared their stories, and had all the mothers and daughters’ full attention (you were able to hear a pin drop). We appreciated so much to hear from them in person, their courage & bravery, sharing with us what had happened to them and how they continue on so Strong (Survivor)

The volunteers, especially the instructors who took so many blows, kicks, and more…. all to be commended. I wanted by daughter to experience this course and not so much for me.  Wrong - I got a lot from it.  Including some partnering drills (she had no mercy on me).  It was also great bonding.

I do encourage all (Naugatuck Savings Bank) females and mothers with daughters to take the opportunity if they have not yet done so and take this course with or without daughters. Also, male employees to encourage their wives and daughters. Daughters need to be age 12 and up.  Statistics show these brutal attacks/ encounters happen with many females ages (13-15).  Two of the survivors sharing their stories were age 12 and 13 when it happened.

It also touched upon the whole Facebook /My Space and the cautions of posting which our youngsters need to hear – outside from their parents."
